And so our tasting tour of the world began--right from our very own kitchen!
We set out to cook a dish from a different country every day and within a week we were hooked. It was so exciting to be trying new foods, new flavour combinations and new methods of cooking, plus with all our culinary research we were picking up a good deal of geography, history and culture along the way!
After posting our efforts on Facebook a couple of my friends requested photos, recipes, ratings and even a food blog--so here it is. I hope you enjoy this record of our experiences and I hope that you find some recipes you're keen to try yourself!
Where possible we use ingredients true to original recipes, but occasionally we are forced to improvise (things like 'turtle meat' are a little hard to come by in New Zealand and besides, we have our own strict no-eating-endangered-species policy!). Even when we follow the recipes to the letter our dishes often don't turn out quite like the pictures--we not chefs after all! So perhaps it is better to say we're tasting the world with one dish a day...and with a Kiwi twist :)
Enjoy!
